Kroger phamacy — $15.59
I was not a happy camper this morning when I got to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions. See, last month my employer had to change insurance companies because the previous insurer was pulling out of our state. So we got all the paperwork done and were told we’d have the new insurance cards probably a week into the month but the insurance would be effective 10/1. Well, here it is the 13th already and still no cards.
Apparently the cards were sent but the coverage was wrong — they had The Husband as having primary coverage at $1,100/mo instead of secondary (as a senior he gets Medicare) to the tune of $400/mo. So the cards and paperwork were sent back for correction. This is annoying because until I have my insurance card I can’t schedule my biopsy which I’d really, really like to get taken care of so we can move on to the business of scheduling an appointment with the surgeon who then has to schedule for the surgery. The wheels of the medical field sure do grind slowly.
But the annoyance of no cards because a serious pain-in-my-tush this morning when I stopped to pick up my two prescriptions. No cards means no benefits. No benefits means no co-pays. I’ll be gosh-darned if was I going to pay the $130 out of pocket for a month’s worth of Clarinex. I did, however, have to pay cash for my synthroid. No option there — I took my last pill on Thursday, forgot to pick up the refill on Friday, so absolutely without fail had to have it Saturday morning. Life with allergies is not fun; life without thyroid is just not worth living. Trust me on this.

Home Depot — $6.78

- gallon of Horizon organic 2% milk

I would have also cut a check to the handyman for his work today in framing for the new retaining wall but I had to leave before he did so I’ll pay him tomorrow at church.
Overall, a busy, expensive day. At least we didn’t have any dining expenses. Not even the handyman; I made him a sandwich. The Son made a delicious spaghetti dinner — dinner for 4 plus left-overs for $12.91!
